Much too often, child custody is a long and gruesome battle, in which many divorcing parents have a hard time dealing with. It becomes a stressful time not only for the parents, but the children themselves.

Deion and Pilar Sanders have been in the process of divorce since the beginning months of last year. Along the way, they’ve disputed child custody and finances which were all made public through the media. The media has put more stress on their children throughout the ugly divorce battle.

Deion and Pilar are both fighting for full custody of their three children, ages 9 through 12 years old. When the Pilars first separated, they also had separated the two brothers from their sister. Pilar had their daughter and Deion had their two sons.

Throughout the process, there have been many allegations thrown around about Pilar and her sister allegedly choking the children. Deion was also accused of abusing the children physically. However, none of these allegations were proven.

On Wednesday, January 9, 2012 Deion and Pilar had a hearing to address the custody of their children. The estranged couple refused to speak to each other and the allegations of child abuse were addressed. A counselor who has been working with the children through the divorce said that the children are very confused and are overly exposed to the contents of the divorce through the media.

On January 10, 2012 the judge is scheduled to talk with all three children to get their take on the divorce and custody issue. He will then determine who shall get custody. Deion and Pilar’s divorce trial will begin in March 2013.
